Who could imagine that people who made it their job to make us laugh often live in darkness of depression! And yet, the infographic above shows as many as thirty comedians who have, or have had, a major depressive disorder. Some of them are long gone. Robin Williams, as we all know, took his own life only a few months ago. Looking at these faces, one can’t help but wonder if there is any connection between comedy and depression.
It could be that many of these people use comedy as a way of coping with their mental state, hoping to escape the sadness they feel inside. This is true not only for comedians but for many “funny” people in your life. “Funny” and “happy” are not the same thing.
