The Top-Earning Personality Type
ENTJs belong to one of the two top-earning personality types are known for being bold and decisive.
ENTJs account for less than 3 percent of the general population, but among women, it’s the rarest personality type.
Besides, ENTJ women are the highest earners; not only do they outearn women of other personality types, but they make even more money than already high-earning ENTJ men, which is remarkable.
Because ambition, persistence, logic, and achievement are ENTJ’s core values, their financial success doesn’t come as a surprise.
Let’s take a closer look at this personality type! Before we begin, it might be a good idea to take this personality test. It only takes about 20 minutes!
ENTJ Meaning
ENTJ stands for extraversion (E), intuition (N), thinking (T), judging (J).
Extraversion (or another spelling variant “extroversion”) is associated with qualities such as being outgoing, energetic, communicative, and dominant.
It means that you are energized by engaging with other people, and it also means that you are enthusiastic about your life and like to feel excited.
Intuition is associated with being innovative, forward-thinking, and being bold.
Being intuitive means that you tend to process information in an abstract, imaginative way. You pay more attention to general concepts and ideas, while facts and details are secondary to you.
Thinking is associated with character traits such as being analytical, rational, objective, perhaps even blunt.
Although you don’t mind helping others, generally you believe that every person is responsible for taking care of themselves.
Another remarkable trait of all Thinking types is that before making a decision, they consider costs and benefits in an unbiased and impartial way — something not all types can do.
The Judging self-management style means you prefer structure and order.
You like to keep things organized, plan ahead, and stay focused on your goals.

How to Recognize an ENTJ
Like other NT types (or Rationals), ENTJs often appear as intellectual snobs whose idea of humor is sarcasm and who seem to enjoy challenging everything and everyone.
Being extraverts, they like to talk to people, and still, a lot of people find them at least somewhat intimidating.
Here are some other signs you are dealing with an ENTJ:
- They tend to repeat their point over and over again as if to make sure you understood what they mean.
- As the conversation progresses, they become even more energetic and enthusiastic.
- Their appearance is clean, and their clothes are well put together. Typically they won’t wear anything extravagant but will make an effort to appear sophisticated and classy.
- They are very savvy.
- They have a solution for everything.
- They are intense.
Because introversion and extraversion are more of a spectrum, some ENTJs may be less extraverted than others, in which case they could be confused with INTJs. Here’s how to tell INTJs and ENTJs apart.
One Special Thing About ENTJ
ENTJs are all about the challenge.
Challenging others and being challenged by others is an important part of their learning process.
Surprisingly, ENTJs admire those who can stand up to them and teach them a lesson. Before that happens, however, they generally see themselves superior to others.
Otto Kroeger, in his book “Type Talk”, gave a great analogy: In many ways, life for the ENTJ is a variation of the children’s game “King of the Mountain”. Unless others can push the ENTJ down from the mountaintop, they must remain “beneath” the ENTJ.
So while it’s true that the ENTJ is generally arrogant towards less confident types, they sincerely like and respect those who don’t feel intimidated by them.
How to Get an ENTJ Like You
- Appear smart and capable;
- Be a problem-solver;
- Notice their accomplishments;
- Be loyal to them;
- Have real goals;
- Behave like an equal;
- Appear successful;
- Don’t be clingy;
- Be independent;
- Look like you are excited about your life.
ENTJ in Love, Dating and Relationships
It’s a surprise that the seemingly tough and arrogant ENTJ can be quite sentimental and romantic in personal relationships.
However, while ENTJs fall in love fairly quickly and easily, they are well aware of their weaknesses and will typically take steps to control their romantic feelings to protect their other goals.
Due to the competitive nature, the ENTJ will pick the most attractive partner. Still, the relationship can have a future only if that partner can meet the ENTJ’s needs by being loyal, supportive, independent, and smart.
If for any reason, the partner can’t meet the ENTJ’s needs anymore, the ENTJ will end the relationship and move on.
If you would like to know more about it, there is a detailed post on ENTJ relationships here.

ENTJ Learning Style
Since their young age, people with an ENTJ personality type are all about achievement.
Because education is one of the best ways of getting ahead, it plays a critical role in their life.
ENTJ students can be very patient while studying as long as they can see a way to apply this knowledge in the future. On the other hand, they aren’t very good at memorizing useless facts or studying something that doesn’t have a practical application.
ENTJ students have a special love of charts, diagrams, and tables — this allows them to organize information and memorize facts and formulas more effectively.
Other good ways for ENTJs to learn include critique, analysis, and debate. Also, they like to challenge themselves by setting deadlines for completing their projects and then trying to do that in even less time.
ENTJ Decision-Making Style
To the ENTJ, decision-making is a vocation. With their future-oriented focus, not only are they able to build actionable plans that will achieve their objectives, but they are also great at inspiring others.
When they need to make a choice, they will typically analyze their options to make a rational decision.
Unlike many other types, however, people with an ENTJ personality type have a unique ability to make the right decisions quickly, without over-analyzing the situation.
Once the decision is made, the ENTJ will carry out his or her plan without second-guessing.
When confronted with a complicated personal problem, they will often force themselves to decide. This approach allows ENTJs to stop ruminating and create emotional closure.
To minimize the pain even further, they will sometimes limit the amount of time spent on making that decision. “I have to decide before 10 AM tomorrow” is an ENTJ thing to say.
Once the time is up, the ENTJ will move on — no ruminating, no second-guessing, no going back and forth.
If two options are equally good (or equally bad), the ENTJ will flip a coin to decide.
