12-27-2014 After her infamous walk in Melbourne a week ago where she wore nothing but a green wig, veil and a pair of heels, Gabi Grecko has confessed about her struggle with depression. Earlier today, Gabi posted words of encouragement to her Instagram fans, urging them not to give up hope even if they felt sad and hopeless. “It’s a monstrous feeling, to feel hopeless, I know you want to give up. But try to see there is a reason you’re here – even if you feel sad and down or hopeless, there’s a reason you’re still alive”, she said.
Gabi Grecko is a 25-year-old fashion designer, model, DJ and reality star. She began modeling in 1998 when she was only 9 years old. Her father, a drug addict, passed away in the same year. According to her own admission, Gabi struggled with depression her entire life and is taking a medication.

Gabi is not the only creative person to suffer from depression. Many seemingly happy artistic individuals are depressed or experience other mental health challenges. American actor and comedian Robin Williams took his own life earlier this year. Owen Wilson, another “funny” man, attempted a suicide back in 2007. His lawyer later confirmed he has been undergoing treatment for depression.
Throughout history, there has been so many great artists who have battled mental illness that scientists began to study the link between creativity and mental health. While it appears that there is a strong association between creativity and mood disorders, the literature supporting this claim is relatively weak [source].
