Thinking vs. Feeling Test: Logic vs. Emotion

Thinking vs. Feeling Test: Logic vs. EmotionWhen making decisions, do you rely on careful analysis of facts, or do you focus on how your decisions affect everyone involved? Have you been accused of overreacting or being cold and unfeeling? Do you want to be liked, or do you want to be right?”

This test is designed to identify your preference for Thinking or Feeling. In certain situations, it is more appropriate to use the Thinking preference, and in other situations, it is more appropriate to use the Feeling preference.

While most people use both preferences in different situations, we usually lean toward one or the other. Generally, Thinkers strive to find the undistorted truth, while Feelers want to find what is important to themselves and others.

Let’s begin!

0-55

If you scored within this range, you are a Feeler. It means that:

  • You are very relationship-focused.
  • You consider how your decisions affect others.
  • You want things to feel right.
  • When with others, you talk about relationships and personal things.
  • You like to socialize, even when it’s very time-consuming.
  • You often agree with others just not to hurt their feelings.
  • You are a very supportive friend.
  • You are an empath.

56-111

Your answers suggest that you often use both preferences. If you scored 84 or more, you could be considered a Thinker; however, it is better that you observe yourself over the course of a few weeks and take note of how you make your decisions.

Similarly, if you scored less than 84, you are likely to be a Feeler; however, it seems that you are using the Thinking preference quite a bit too. Over the course of several weeks, observe yourself and take note of what you focus on when making decisions.

thinking vs feeling line

Scoring here isn’t a bad thing. It only means that you are a very balanced person and use different approaches for different situations.

If you are trying to decide on your four-letter personality type, read through relevant profiles and see what sounds right. For example, if you know that your other three preferences are E, N, and J, read ENFJ and ENTJ profiles to decide what describes you better.

112-168

If you scored within this range, you are a Thinker. It means that:

  • You focus on logical analysis rather than feelings.
  • You prefer to keep your communication concise.
  • When with others, you prefer to talk about tasks, news, and other impersonal subjects.
  • You make sure to stay objective.
  • You want to be right more than to be liked.
  • You notice logical flaws in others’ reasoning.
  • You offer constructive criticism.
  • You are very task-oriented.
