Enneagram 1w9: The One with a Nine-Wing

Enneagram 1w9: The One with a Nine-WingOnes with a Nine-wing (or 1w9s) are very sharp and rational people.

Depending on the strength of their Nine-wing, they are less rigid than the core type. However, Ones remain Ones, and 1w9s are no exception.

1w9s are more introverted than their 1w2 counterparts and enjoy their time alone. They like reading or studying the subject of their interest quietly.

Spending time alone helps them develop their idealistic concepts while also protecting them from being influenced by others.

On the one hand, as Ones, they want to change the world. But on the other hand, their Nine-wing makes them want to avoid trouble.

Because of these two contradicting desires, 1w9s often appear more like dispassionate observers.

In this sense, they can be very similar to Fives. Both love to acquire knowledge, and both appreciate solitude.

However, Fives are less judgmental of others. In most cases, they aren’t particularly concerned whether someone shares their point of view or takes their advice.

1w9s, however, can be very critical and judgmental. Unlike Fives, who prefer to keep their thoughts and feelings to themselves, they like to advise people and get upset if others do not take their advice seriously.

In healthy 1w9s, the One’s characteristical rigidity is softened by the Nine-wing. They can be more objective and understanding than the core type.

Overall, they come across as educated and good-mannered people. While they certainly can be a little cold and detached, they make good friends and teachers.

Because of type 9 influence, 1w9s are less likely to be involved in politics. However, if their Nine-wing isn’t particularly strong, they may impose their values on others and could become aggressive politicians.

If 9w1s teach by example, 1w9s are very impersonal. If they teach, they teach abstract ideas without adding anything personal to it. They are also likely to talk more than act.

Moreover, due to their introversion, 9w1s are more likely to write than preach their values.

Because of their Nine influence, 1w9s have a strong tendency to filter the world according to their liking.

They see what they want to see and hear what they want to hear because it helps them preserve their peace and harmony.
